My Story
You have 2 feet to move forward, you have 2 hands to help others…
I’ll never forget the day a stranger knocked on my door and changed my world forever. “Did you know you’re adopted?” he said. Turns out, I was one of the “Stolen Generation”, Australian mixed-race aboriginal children who were forcibly taken from their families by the government in order to further assimilate them into the population.
I was ultimately able to meet my biological family, however, my experience left me feeling like I didn’t know where I belonged. Years later, my Indigenous father told me, ‘You belong in both worlds, honour your upbringing, respect your heritage and use your talents and gifts’. He pointed to my feet. ‘You have two feet to move forward’ He pointed to my hands. ‘You have two hands to help others’.
His words have been a gift to me, and led to my going back to college at 41 and becoming a medical doctor at 51, after a career as a naturopathic practitioner. Belonging in both worlds means bridging the gap between traditional, complimentary, and alternative medicines to create a holistic approach for women’s wellbeing.
Today I live my dream to use my feet to move forward and use my hands in the best way I know how, to help others.
I’m a medical doctor but I’m also a woman who’s experienced menopause – or the ’Pause, as I like to call it. Just like you, my journey through this powerful, life-altering phase has been unique and deeply personal. While I thought I was prepared and knew what to expect, once ‘the change’ became front and centre of my life, my daily reality was surprising, to say the least!
My own menopausal journey was an eye-opener and I’m passionate about sharing my story, knowledge, and experiences with women like you so that you can thrive – not just survive – through the ‘Pause.
The Latin word ‘doctore’ means teacher, and I’m on a mission to teach women like you to empower themselves during their midlife and regain their confidence and joy through self-care and self-centering.
Using a holistic biopsychosocial approach, I share my professional insights and personal experiences to guide you through this exciting coming-of-age and help you understand your complex midlife challenges.
Whatever your journey towards the ‘Pause, I want to show you how to navigate what is potentially the most powerful phase of your life so that you, too, can take your two feet and two hands to help and reassure the women who follow you on this path.
